1. Introduction

Welcome to Squize. By downloading or using the app you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully before using the service.

Squize is a parental-control companion app for Android, iPhone and iPad. It helps parents set healthy screen-time boundaries by requiring children to complete short educational challenges before they can access monitored apps. On Android it uses Google's Digital Wellbeing and UsageStats APIs; on iPhone and iPad it uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) framework.

2. The Service

2.1 Features

• Monitor and limit daily usage of selected apps — on Android through the Digital Wellbeing and UsageStats APIs, and on iPhone and iPad through Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) framework
• Show educational challenges when a usage limit is reached
• Track a child's challenge history and learning progress on the Insights dashboard
• Manage multiple child profiles from a single parent account
• Customise subject areas, difficulty levels, and daily time budgets
• Stay in the Loop (optional) — register an email or Google account to receive progress updates and news
• Connect to Parent (optional) — pair a parent device with a child's device to sync rules, profiles, and daily activity in real time

2.2 Subscription & Pricing

Squize is free to download with a limited trial period. Full access requires Squize Unlimited, an auto-renewing subscription available as:

• Monthly subscription — billed every month
• Annual subscription — billed every 12 months (best value)

The price, and the length of any free trial offered to you, are shown in the app in your local currency before you confirm the purchase. Prices are set through the App Store and Google Play and may vary by region.

Payment is charged to your Apple ID (iPhone and iPad) or your Google account (Android) when you confirm the purchase. The subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends. Where a free trial is offered, subscribing before the trial ends forfeits any unused part of it.

2.3 Cancellation & Refunds

• No long-term contracts — you can cancel at any time
• Subscriptions purchased on iPhone or iPad are managed in Settings → your name → Subscriptions; refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store refund policy
• Subscriptions purchased via Google Play are managed through your Google account settings; refunds are handled by Google according to their refund policy
• Cancelling stops future renewals; you retain access until the end of the current billing period
• On a new or reinstalled device, use Restore purchases in Settings → Subscription to bring an active subscription back

2.4 App Monitoring Functionality

• On Android, Squize uses the Digital Wellbeing and UsageStats APIs to track and limit app usage
• On iPhone and iPad, Squize uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) framework: you grant Screen Time permission and choose the apps to monitor in Apple's own picker
• Monitoring is active only while the parent account is set up and the service is running
• Effectiveness depends on your Android or iOS version and on device settings; we cannot guarantee 100% enforcement on all devices

2.5 Optional Cloud Features

Squize offers two optional features that use secure cloud storage (Firebase):

• Stay in the Loop — register an email or Google account to receive updates on your children's progress and new features. You may disconnect at any time via Sign out & disconnect in the app.
• Connect to Parent — link a parent device and child device with a six-digit pairing code to sync profiles, rules, and daily learning activity. Parents view Insights on their own device; the child device enforces limits locally.

Both cloud features are Android-only. The iPhone and iPad version of Squize has no account, no email registration and no device pairing — everything it stores stays on the device.

These features require an internet connection and depend on third-party infrastructure. Sync may be delayed or interrupted by connectivity issues. You are responsible for keeping pairing codes confidential and only linking devices you control. Unlinking a device stops future sync but does not automatically delete historical cloud data — contact support@squize.app to request deletion.

3. User Responsibilities

3.1 Eligibility & Consent

• Squize is intended for use by parents or legal guardians to manage their children's device usage
• You must be at least 18 years old to create a parent account
• You are responsible for obtaining any required consent before monitoring a device
• You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure

3.2 Acceptable Use

• Do not attempt to bypass, reverse-engineer, or disable the app's monitoring mechanisms
• Do not use Squize for any unlawful purpose or in a way that violates anyone's rights
• Do not overburden our infrastructure or attempt unauthorised access to our systems
• All activity under your account is your responsibility

4. Changes to the Service

We reserve the right to:

• Modify, improve, or discontinue any feature of the service
• Adjust subscription pricing or available plans with reasonable advance notice
• Update these Terms; continued use after notice of changes constitutes acceptance

5. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

Squize is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:

• Inability to access restricted apps or unexpected behaviour on specific device models
• Inaccuracies in usage-time tracking or delays in cloud sync and Insights updates
• Interruptions in service availability, including third-party cloud infrastructure
• Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the app

6. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct that is harmful to other users or to Squize. You may delete your account, disconnect Stay in the Loop, or unlink paired devices at any time from within the app. To request deletion of cloud-stored family data, contact support@squize.app.

7. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel. Any disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of Tel Aviv.
